We have two types of artists in this challenge: regular artists who will collaborate with a writer, and pinch hitters.

Rules for all artists

• Artists will create at least two (2) pieces of art for each fic they claim.
  • One of them should be a full illustration.
  • The second can be a sketch.
  • You may create a promotional graphic or cover for your author to use on tumblr/twitter, but that won’t count toward your two pieces.
• Artists are free to create more than the minimum number of required pieces, at their discretion.
• Artists will decide what scenes they illustrate. You're welcome to ask for author input, but they must defer to you.
• Art should be an original illustration, either traditional media or digital. No photo manipulation, collages, mood boards, or edits.
• Please keep what you're working on a secret until the mods allow previews on social (but you can share in the art channel on our discord).
• Art can be embedded in the fic, posted to the author’s website of choice, or both. Where art is hosted is at the artist’s choice. It must be publicly available for at least one year following the end of the challenge.
• Participants may register as both an author and artist, but artists may not claim their own fic.
• If you are signed up as an author AND artist and want access to both roles’ discord channels, you’ll be on the honor system with regards to claims.

Pinch hitters

Pinch hitters are a type of artist who can work fast and on a tight deadline. They step in if another artist can't complete the challenge due to an emergency.

Only sign up as a pinch hitter if you are an experienced artist able to work quickly under pressure and willing to illustrate a wide variety of content.

Checking the box to pinch hit will give us a list of people we can ask in the event of needing another artist to step in for a dropped out participant quickly. Checking the pinch hit box is not a commitment; it just indicates your willingness to take on another story to illustrate in case an author is left dangling during the challenge. We’ll reach out if a pinch-hit opportunity comes up.
